Hello and Happy Homesteading 🙂
I’m Emily and I write here at Home Sweet Homestead.
Homesteading is basically about living a self sufficient life. It started out naturally for us and over the past ten years we have become more and more self sufficient. We are now at the point where we can live almost completely from our home including water, electricity and food. We don’t keep livestock for meat (although we do have cattle and goats for milk) so we still source chicken, beef and fish from local suppliers but other than that, we live off our farm.
Our home hasn’t always been self sustaining but over time we’ve added water tanks, solar panels, an orchid, multiple vegetable gardens, chickens, goats, cows and a few ponies. Here on Home Sweet Homestead I write all about our life, from homesteading to cleaning, budgeting, gardening, cooking, family life and more.
My husband Jim works as a plumber and I am at home with our four children Sophia (18 months), Amelia (2.5 years), Joshua (4 years) and Claudia (8 years). The kids have grown up amongst our family farm and love to get out in the garden and help with the animals. Claudia goes to school during the week and Joshua has just started kindergarten and will start school next year.
Thank you for stopping by and I hope you enjoy sharing our homesteading journey.
Until next time,
