The dryer air of Fall and Winter can really zap the moisture from our skin, leaving it dry and flaky. To the rescue, sugar scrubs. Body scrubs can help remove that dry skin, leaving smooth, soft skin behind. Add in the yummy scent of apple pie, and we are talking about one warm and relaxing shower. To make your very own spa-quality body scrub, at a fraction of the price, you just need 4 simple ingredients. White and brown sugar, olive or coconut oil, and a combo of apple pie spice and cinnamon, that's it! In less than 5 minutes you can be on your way to a luxurious treat that used to be expensive, but can now be enjoyed at a fraction of the price.
A bit of advice before trying this scrub, or any new product if you have sensitive skin. Test it on your inner arm first, where the skin is most sensitive, to ensure you can tolerate the ingredients. Just wet the area, apply a small amount, rinse, then wait about 15 minutes. If you experience any excessive redness or itchiness, don't use it. The good thing about mixing up your own is that it's a lot cheaper to make, than buying those expensive scrubs on the market. If you have a reaction, you won't have wasted a lot of money to find out. Plus, you're using natural ingredients, and not any fake fragrances or preservatives.

Apple Pie Body Scrub
1/2 cup white granulated sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup olive oil or coconut oil (If you don't want a coconut scent in your body scrub, you can use refined coconut oil, or just use pure olive oil like I do).
1 tablespoon apple pie spice
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
In a medium mixing bowl, add the sugars and spices. Stir with a fork until combined.
Add the olive or coconut oil and stir, mashing with the fork occasionally until well blended.
Transfer to an airtight container, (I love using these cute mason jars, pictured above) and use within 2 weeks.
Wet body in shower.
Apply a generous amount of sugar scrub to body, gently rubbing to exfoliate skin.
Rinse thoroughly. (Be careful, as the shower can become slippery from the oil).
Pat body dry with a towel, and apply your favorite moisturizer.
