Meatballs are the ultimate in comfort food. They're easy to make, tasty, and there is something so homey about biting into one of these tasty morsels. If you haven't tried to make you're own homemade meatballs, I really encourage you to do so. They are one of the simplest and easiest recipes to throw together, and taste so much better than anything you can buy from the freezer section of the grocery store.
Once a month I make a triple batch of these meatballs and freeze them for fast meals later on in the month. You can toss them in spaghetti sauce to enjoy with spaghetti squash, or zoodles, or take those same meatballs and spaghetti sauce and stuff them into a grain free wrap to create a meatball sub with melted mozzarella cheese, add them to soups and stews ... the possibilities are almost endless.
Italian Turkey Meatballs
1 pound ground turkey
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon oregano
1 teaspoon basil
1/2 teaspoon sea salt
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Place all ingredients in a large bowl and mix thoroughly.
Roll into meatballs about the size of golf balls, or slightly larger.
Place meatballs on a grease baking sheet, and bake for 25 - 30 minutes, or until cooked through.
Makes about 12 meatballs
Serving suggestion: Serve with your favorite sauce with zoodles, or spaghetti squash, or if you're a carb lover, on top of spaghetti, or on a hoagie bun for a meatball sub.
Notes: *To freeze - place cooked meatballs in a single layer on a parchment paper lined baking sheet. Freeze for one hour, then transfer to an air-tight container and store in the freezer.
